Step 1: Find and Lease Your Code
Use the search tool to locate the short code that best suits your needs and determine its current availability. The Short Code Registry
also offers information on pricing, lease terms and code customization.
Create a free account to begin the process for leasing a code. Once logged in, select “Apply for New CSC” and complete the order form. Up to 20 codes may be ordered at one time. After you’ve leased your code, complete the steps below to launch your campaign, which includes defining your campaign and getting the campaign approved (which typically involves the support of partners).
Due diligence up front will help you avoid time-consuming compliance issues down the road.
Step 2: Define Your Campaign
Once you have paid for your code, add a campaign for that code in the registry and fill out the required fields to define the details. Partners can assist you in completing the application or can do so your behalf.
Step 3: Submit for Review and Approval
Once the campaign data is entered in the registry, the next step is to work with your partners to get your campaign submitted for review and approval by the participating wireless service providers (which include the vast majority of service providers in the US). These reviews play a critical role in protecting consumer interests which, in turn, promotes trust in short codes and in the brands that use them.
Once your campaign has been approved by the wireless service providers, it will be provisioned on their networks and you will be ready to roll out your campaign.
