Registry Vetting Process

At least once annually, CTIA’s Vetting Agents vet all short code leaseholders with the Registry Vetting process. During that process, the company name, corporate registration, compliance history, and legal history are validated for all entities. Results are available on request.

Registry Vetting Process

Almost all standard rate service providers go through Registry Vetting without incident. In rare instances when our vetting agents uncover questionable findings, escalated reports are provided to CTIA and carrier teams.

Proof of Vetting for Onboarding

Some carriers require proof of vetting before onboarding new programs. To accommodate this requirement, the vetting agents follow a process for leaseholders to contact their support teams to request proof of vetting.

Usually, no issues are found with standard rate short code leaseholders during Registry Vetting. However, when they do uncover questionable findings, the vetting agents distribute a copy of the Registry Vetting form and accompanying evidence to the CTIA-provided carrier list.

Escalation Criteria

The vetting agents contact CTIA and carrier teams about Registry Vetting only when one or both of the following findings emerges:

  • Ongoing or recent (within the past two years) legal cases regarding TCPA, consumer privacy, the CAN-SPAM Act, COPPA, and other issues relevant to mobile; and/or
  • Affiliation with adult content in the past two years.

Complete Registry Vetting results are available any time on request.
